Plan with wanderers

Me and my bunch of friends are vivid bike travelers and adventure seekers. When find time out of our schedule we try to move to places which are quite lonesome and free from human population and pollution. our recent visit was such an awesome place located in kodaikanal. When we where in search of suitable trekking and camping site for our travel google suggested us these spots called as Vellagavi and Kookal in Kodaikanal.

sourcing up on the places we thought they are our perfect destinations and in a quick time of planning we decided on the budget and date to move on, on our Bike adventure.

About vellagavi and kookal

The vellagavi village has a history of 400 years prior to the formation of the extract kodaikanal. To reach the this village one cannot use a bike or any other form of transport. One should take a vehicle until Dolphin nose and form there you need to take a walk of 6km on a rough Terrain path. This village is like a tribal village situated in between the mountains 70% of the visiting the kodaikanal have no idea about this village being there. There are even camping sites available at this village I shall even more describe this village in upcoming lines. Now let me talk about the kookal village. kookal is a village located nearly 35km far away from kodaikanal. The very reason for choosing kookal was the presence of a private falls located in kookal. It is not easy for every tourist to move to the falls as you need to get permission from the local villagers to reach the falls

kodaikanal Tourist place

At the dusk of june 15 around 11pm. 8 souls destined to travel assembled in Ramanathapuram and took off to kodaikanal. It is a distance of 250km from Ramanathapuram to Kodaikanal we reached around 5am in the morning we stayed in budget hotel there. Our day one consisted of sighting the local spots in kodaikanal like the suicide point, the lake, pine forest etc.... most of the tourist spots were closed due to the covid situation. Our day 1 was complete that way. The next day we woke up again at around 5am in the morning and booked a cab to take us out to vellagavi village. we were dropped near dolphin nose. From there we had to take a rough path by walk of a about 6km to reach the vellagavi village. Now we understood that while taking the r it is easier to reach the village but we might find it harder while we are returning back to kodaikanal from the village. we got few snacks and water from the nearby shops and started our long walk towards the village. Around 9am we reached the village. To our greatest surprise  we were asked to remove all shoes and slippers before entering the village. It has been traditional followed by the villagers that they don't wear  any slippers inside the village. it is a traditional ritual followed by the villagers due to the sanctity of the temple located in the village. we were are taken by surprise knowing that and we removed all our slippers and shoes and we went batefoot into the village. we were welcomed with hospitality and our camping manager took us around the village to the different spots  and showed us around the village. Each one of us were overwhelmed by the beauty of nature and the people in that village living a good road way, internet connection and proper electricity. the village has a school for only primary children  has to move about 6km away from the village to reach kodaikanal to have their Higher Secondary education. We conversed with the people there and had a lovely day without using mobile phones totally disconnected from the outside world and enjoyed great day. the food provide there was also awesome just like the village and its nature. Later we went to the sunset point and viewed the beauty of it. At night a campfire was arranged by the camping manager it was a thrilling experience to have a nice sleep directly under the roof of sky with the chiping sounds of insects and owl sounds and with the touch of nature. The campfire was also good along with songs. We enjoyed a lot. W had a good night sleep and in the morning we took off to other spots seeing in the hills and then we started off back to kodaikanal. As we thought earlier returning back in the 6 kilometer rough returning path was quite hard not willing to leave that quite lonesome wonderful place of nature we took off back to kodaikanal in the morning and reached back to kodaikanal to our earlier spot. We were tired and took a good nap

Discover the undiscovered kookal falls
We started off kodaikanal at 5.30am and reached kookal at 9.30am.we trekked along with the who took us to the falls. we had to pay 500rs for the guide. He advised each of us to carry 1liter of water. We then started our trekking towards the falls. we reached the spot. it was mind blogging...amidst the nature a lonesome falls without human population was like a dream into reality for us . we cherished every bit of it enjoyed it our level best and returned back to kodaikanal  by evening carrying with us the best of memories we had gained from mother nature
